Borehole geophysical methods make physical measurements of the properties within and near the well or borehole. These document important well properties creating a permanent unbiased record of well conditions, and physical measurements of properties that may not have been observed by the well geologist, or available without costly laboratory analysis. A variety of well conditions can be measured depending on the sensor used. Below are a few of the common geophysical measurements available. In addition, the ASTM standard provides guidance on the selection of borehole geophysical methods for a variety of applications.
